I’m Coach McGee, and just like you, I was once an aspiring NEMT entrepreneur, filled with excitement and a healthy dose of anxiety about starting my own non-emergency medical transportation business. When I began my journey in the industry, there were no coaches or mentors specifically focused on NEMT. Like many of you, I initially hesitated to hire someone to guide me through the process, thinking I knew all I needed to know. But I quickly learned that wasn’t the case.
Between the challenges of COVID-19, poor business decisions, and unfortunate financial choices, I eventually hired a coach. Unfortunately, by the time I made that decision, it was too late. I was so deep in debt that I couldn’t recover. I ended up filing for bankruptcy and watched my van get repossessed right from my driveway. It was a humiliating experience, but also a humbling one that taught me the hard lesson that there is always more to learn—especially in the NEMT industry.
Taking the advice of the business coach I hired right before my company closed, I started a YouTube channel. It didn’t take long to realize that much of the information circulating was misleading, often simplifying NEMT to just getting a van, some insurance, signing up with a broker, and being set. This couldn’t be further from the reality of what it takes to succeed in NEMT. The truth is, NEMT is much more complex and operates from a combination of several different business models.
Recognizing this, I made it my mission to help other NEMT entrepreneurs avoid the costly mistakes I had made. I even went so far as to enroll in an MBA program to learn every aspect of business possible. As a result, I’ve built a thriving coaching practice that prides itself on integrity and transparency, dedicated to building strong, ethical NEMT entrepreneurs.
Nowadays, I spend my spare time researching the industry and developing educational and training materials for NEMT providers. Now that you know a bit about me, I’m eager to get to know you and assist you on your NEMT journey.
